Using Rebecca Salter's book, "Japanese Woodblock Printing" I occasionally get the urge to product a block and series of prints. Themes are various, but always linked to the natural world and I enjoy trying to use natural and handmade products wherever possible. So, in these print runs the black in is made from ground charcoal from my autumn bonfires and coloured inks are almost all earth pigments. The block for A Frog Jumped into Water I cut and planed a piece from my sister's ash tree. All are printed on handmade Japanese paper.
