The
seed boxes are made of beechwood with a pine backing and display a watercolour painting of
seeds made on Gampi Vellum - a Japanese paper that is made from fibres
from the gampi plant. It is thicker than most Japanese papers I have
come across and has amazing absorbancy properties, allowing very thick
layering of the paint to give intense colours. The boxes have a glass front that can be removed and are quite
deep so that you can add your own favourite finds to them (NB dry only).
They come with some artifacts I found and liked to get you started. They are all dovetail jointed and the
wood is waxed. They have
a fixing on the back for hanging on a wall. They vary in size, but all
are about 12-15 cm sq. Horse Chestnut Seed Box![]() | ![]() Detail of dovetail joint |
