Caversham Art Trail
I'll be opening my house again for Caversham Artists Trail.
This year as well as myself and Matt the silversmith and potions maker,
we will be joined by two ceramicists - Debbie Page and Jac Fitzjohn.
We'll also have a Tai Chi demo and join in session by Debbie on Sat
11th and more silversmithing from Matt on Sunday the 19th.
I'm busy painting for a commission at the moment, so not much new
botanical art to see, but have also been making lamp and tealights
shades with Li-Sheng Cheng and have just finished another book - The
Egg Letters with Suszie Vignoles which is hot off the press (more
details on Woodblock Print and Other Work pages)!

Sunday of the month from June to October - weather permitting of

CHRISTMAS SHOWS
BRIGHT! SPARKLY! CHRISTMASSY!
I'll be at two shows this year, on Sat 24th and Sun 25th
November for our regular Bix Six and Friends Christmas Show at Bix
Village Hall to start your Christmas shopping, with the usual tea and
seasonal cake (proceeds from teas and coffees to The Chiltern Centre
for Disabled Children; more details on the Bix Six page) and then for a
one day blast with Caversham Artists from 2pm to 8pm on 9th December in
Caversham, at St Andrew's Church in Caversham Heights.
The Fisherman Cafe
will be doing refreshments from 2pm to 6pm.

MAY Extravaganza!
Art is everywhere in May with art trails in Berks, Bucks and Oxon for the whole month. Take your pick.
First,
I will be at Bix Village Hall - Venue 1 of the Henley Arts
Trail for the Bank Holiday on 5th,6th and 7th May with lots of other
great artists and craftspersons - see the Bix Six page on this website
(in Guests) or more details at henleyartstrail.com.
Then its over to Caversham where I
will be opening my studio for the rest of the weekends in May (11am to
5 pm) with Friday openings too. We are opening for Caversham Arts Trail (Caversham arts trail 2012) but also for Newbury and West Hampshire Open Studios Scheme (more details Newbury and West Hampshire open studios).
I will be joined by Mat Hitch (
), Anne Webster (

). I will be showing my new berry collection from specimens gleaned fom the local hedgerows over the winter, as well as...
most exciting news - the launch of a collaborative
book with local poet, Robin Thomas. You can see the original artwork
and buy the book at my studio and also hear him read some of his poems
at his home on the Caversham Arts Trail venue 10 at 3pm on Sat 17th May.
We also have other entertainments for you -
Drumming with Andy Fowler, drummer and artist extrodinaire
(rhythmzone) and Lois on 13th May - listen and join in from 2.30 pm...
...and Matt Hitch will be continuing his demonstrations of all things silver with "Making rings" on Sunday 20th at 3pm.

SEPTEMBER
Caversham Artists at Caversham Court...

Saturday September 17th Caversham Artists are hosting a creativity in
Caversham day with art, crafts, plants tea and cakes! We will be there
from 10 am to 4.30pm and the refreshments will be provided by the tea
kiosk in aid of the Duchess of Kent Hospice charity.
Keep an eye on this site or Caversham artists for updates.
Pleae note there is only parking for disabled drivers on site, but
there are car parks in the centre of Caversham, only a few minutes walk
away.
Represented will be Charles Burns (drawings and paintings), Joanne De
Nobriga (photography), Caversham Globe (wild plants), Lauren Denny
(ceramics), Carole Edwards (watercolours), Matthew Hitch (silver and
soaps), Claire Jacob (small items), Nina Krauzewicz (charcoal and
watercolour), representatives of New Directions Potters,
representatives of Pangbourne Art group, Mary Phelan (paintings and
drawings), Julie Simmonds (mixed media, paintings and ceramics), Roger
Smalley (stone sculptures) and Therese Wicks (stained glass).
MAY

Pictures from our first weekend. Dont forget we are open at venue 14
(also venue 6 is open) ON MONDAY! 9th May as well. Our event for next
week is a silversmithing demo by Matt on chasing (creating pictures on
silver) at 2.30 pm next Sunday (15th).

Caversham Arts Trail and Newbury Open Studios 7/8/9th and 13/14/15th May
Caversham Arts Trail are opening their studios for the weekends of
7/8th and 13/14/15th May and a few are also open for an extra date of
Monday 9th (including me!) as part of the Newbury Open Studios events
that are on throughout May.
My studio is Venue 14 this year with Matt Hitch matthewhitch.com and his jewellery, soaps and potions and Christine Brewster stripeybasket.co.uk with contemporary baskets.
We Also have a bit of a literary thing going on with:
Poetry readings and join in session with local poets Robin Thomas and Victoria Pugh on Saturday 7th at 3pm onwards
Then Traditional tales with Anne Latto on Sunday the 8th at 2.30pm and 3.30pm.
Then there will be the next in the silversmithing demonstrations by Matt - "Chasing" on Sunday 15th at 2.30pm

Henley Arts Trail 28/29/30th May
Then at the end of the month is Henley Arts Trail - I'm at Bix again
this year (Bix Village Hall RG9 6BS, Venue 1 on the trail!) for art,
tea and cakes! We are the Bix Six and friends and number this year
around 9. Details should be posted on the HACG website soon http://www.henley-arts.org. and I'll be putting a page together for the Bix Six and friends on this website soon, too.

FEBRUARY
Currently (from 10th Feb to 5th March) around 12 CAT
artists have their work displayed in empty shop windows in Kings Walk,
by the Oracle, as part of the Third Thursday Events
organised by the Jelly arts forum. We are opening the shop up for
several days including Thursday 17th Feb 5.30-9pm with demonstrations
and refreshments, and then on the Saturdays 19th and 26th Feb.

Sunday 20th Feb
I will be at the North Hampshire Orchid Society Annual Show and
Craft Fair, with lots of nice flowery/soapy/glassy things to buy and
also tea and cake. so if you are in the Basingstoke area on Sunday do
drop in! It's open 2-5pm and is at East Oakley Village Hall, Hill Road,

I will be at two venues this year with a range of pictures and
prints and cards and will also be showing at the Henley Arts and Crafts
Guild Autumn Exhibition in the Old Fire Station in Henley.
28th and 29th Nov at Bix Village Hall (RG9 6BS) the Bix Six and
friends@Christmas invite you to shop in this lovely
location on the A4130 half way between Henley and Nettlebed. More information on cookies website.

6th and 7th Nov A weekend for a bit of early christmas shopping
at Caversham Artists Christmas Show at New Directions (RG4 8HX;
opposite the Waitrose car park entrance in Caversham). 16 artists
exhibiting and all work for sale. Further information at www.cavershamartstrail.co.uk

From 6th to 17th Nov at the Old Fire Station in Henley (Behind
the Town Hall) for the Henley Arts and Crafts Guild Autumn Exhibition
of members work, open from 10am-4pm every day. More info coming soon on

MARCH - 6 weeks at the Complete Picture Frame Maker on Church Road, Caversham
For six weeks from 19th March a selection of charcoal drawings and
cards of the Dingle Peninsula in Ireland are available for viewing
and sale at 7 Church Road, Caversham, RG4 7AA.
MAY - Caversham Artists Trail 2010 and Henley Arts Trail
Caversham Artists Trail
For
two weekend in May (8th - 9th and 15th -16th) artists in Caversham will
open their studios with a selection of arts and crafts and fun things
to do. See the website at Caversham Artists Trail for more details.
My studio, at 224
Kidmore Road, will be open again with new botanical artwork from me,
silverwork
from Matthew Hitch, photography from Joanne de Nobriga, a selection
of bowls made from local wood by Peter Quarmby and a few choice
decoupage pieces from Louise Spiers. Any donations and 10% of sales
proceeds will go to Mukti, a small charity supporting education for
disposessed, disenfranchised and endangered children in Delhi. more

We will also have an
Indian theme on the first weekend Sunday (9th May,
starting at 2.30 pm) with Bollywood and Bhangra dancing led by Tripta Prashar. More info at Tripta's blog.

Matt will be running a silversmithing demonstration entitled "Making a
bowl".
Henley Arts Trail
On
the May Bank Holiday weekend (29/30/31st May) I'll be joining the Bix Six (details to follow at Cookie's website) at Bix Village Hall, Henley on Thames, RG9 6BS. Come for textiles,
ceramics, paintings, wood, jewellery and tea and cakes in a relaxed
